Around 100 bucks, I'd say an ATI HD4830 would give you enough power for general 3D gaming (with mid-to-high quality settings at a resolution of 1280x1024). Usually it jumps right up to the 150-200 range for the next step, which means 3D gaming at high resolutions (1600x1200 or higher).
