Is there a specific kind of video card needed for certain computers?

We wanted to get a video card so that we can watch videos on our computer. Are there specific ones needed for different computers? We have an emachines T3616 Desktop PC with Windows Vista if that helps at all. I know I probably sound stupid asking this but please just answer, don't criticize.|||HI there. Yes different computers have a different slot for the video card and you must get one to match your type.

Your T3616 has a PCI-Express® (PCI-E x16) so that is really good. You'll need to make sure that it says PCI-express on the video card when you buy it.

To get you started, here is a link to newegg.com, a really reliable online electronics retailer with great prices. I have sorted the video cards by PCI express x 16 for you, so any of these should work.

Good luck with your search.|||This depends on your mother board. There are three types of slots that video cards typically fit into: PCI, PCI Express, and AGP. For your model you have both the PCI Express and PCI. I would go PCI Express.|||It appears to have a PCI Express x16 slot available. Most video cards now-a-days will fit in it. The one below should be more than powerful enough, and you can look at more at that site. Make sure it's PCI Express (x16 or PCI Express 2.0)|||to ad to the mix there is PCI, PCI Express, and AGP all so on board Video .|||Can we assume you don't have a video card now,and or cannot watch videos? Go to control panel -- system -- Devicemanager -- Display adapter. That will tell you what type of video adapter you currently have. Then Google the card ID to get more info on it.If it says it's integrated, you may want to purchase something better,of the PCI-E variety, but many integrated adapters play video just fine.
