Emachines computer- how to change video card?

how do change my video card on a emachines t1090|||Just put it in the open slot emachines cant really take parts out you just gotta put new ones in|||Is it a tower? Not a laptop? If it's a laptop you can't however a tower is very simple first off you will need to know what type of video card you have. You can find out in the system Bios by hitting Del or esc or F2 at system reboot. this will take some searching but you are looking for primary video device. It should Say AGP, Or PCI, Or PCI-E

You can also find out by looking at the port when you open up the computer but a trained eye will need to know what it is looking for. You can go to google and search for pictures on what the different ports look like.

The easiest is to just take out the card while the computer is off and unplugged. And just look at it. Should say right on the card. If it is fairly old withing 4 or 5 years I would say ts a PCI or AGP. Fairly new PCI -E or AGP.

Now once you know what card slot type you have you can buy a new card and installing it is very simple.

Remove the case cover and locate where the card is. Unscrew the retaining bolt. or There should be a plastic green piece over the slot retaining all your cards so they don't move. Simply Lift it up and remove the card. Be sure to unplug any power source for the card.

Then replace it with the new card and snap it down or re[place the screw and power up, If there are two of the same slots you may need to just switch the ports. its very easy just don't over think it you'll figure it out.|||Open the machine, find an empty PCI slot,or AGP,whatever suits your device, and install.

Just be careful, when inserting the card, and don't push down too hard.

No worries....
